Advert feedback.

The feedback for my advert was quite short in that i only had small things that needed to be changed. These were the boxes in that i now agree do not look good and also to make sure that the record label on the bottom is well know and to have more revies on it. They liked the use of the image that is on the front cover of my digipack and that it ties together well.

Digipack feedback.

My feedback from my digipack was that it was too plain and so to overcome this i could still have a plain front cover but foe the inside i need to add images of the band and lyrics from our songs to make it be more attractive and not look boring. the teachers said that they liked my font and to try and have the use of paint throughout out as it looked effective. I also had parts on the digipack that didn't really relate to anything for example the words saying 'what goes around comes around' it links to the name circles but doesn't Link to anything else so i am going to put lyrics from our song 'Save me' there instead.

However Miss hammond did not like my front cover and said that it was too plain and said the oppsite to Mr Ford. I personally prefere to have a plainer front cover and for it to be more exciting inside and so think i willl go with what Mr Ford said but Agree with miss that i need to make the advert more exciting and by doing this i am going to add more colours.

For the design of my front cover i am going to create my own paint patterens with different material to see which looks better for example, water colour paint or wall paint. i will need to test what colours and thicknesses look better.

I will also be taking some different types of band shots for the inside of my digipack and will try out different designs such as them all being together, or individual shots and then editing themtogether.

Week plan.

Me and Laura have struggled to meet up as we live so far away from eachother and timings have clashed and so this week we have decided to make a plan. Tonight (Monday) we will be staying after school to shoot the bands part in our video. we will be using a plain room in the music department and have sorted out the instrument that we needed. On Thursday we are going to be shooting the main parts that laura does and we are going to try out the look of heavy makup and short hair and see how we like it and what our teachers think for the dratft version.

Wig problem.

The wig that we have ordered says that it will not be arriving until the middle of November and so this may be too late for us for when we need to shoot our video. We have two options for this and they are listed below:

1. Our first option is to look for another wig that will come before we need to shoot and hope that the quality is as good as the first one we picked.

   2. Our second option is to re-design how we want our main character in the video to come across. For example, if we were to have the wig with big hair then we would keep the face quite plain as the hair would be the main attraction. However, because of the wig problem and Laura having short hair we thought to go with an opposite approach. this approach would be to have the face made up more with stronger makeup as the hair will not attract our attention to it and also we could still keep with the grungy look.

For my final digipack and advert.

For my final digipack and advert i need to create my own paint designs that will go on to the digipack and advert. I will be doing this at the weekend and will do different designs and take photos to then decide which ones i think will work best.

The hair style.

As Laura is featuring in our video and has short hair we have resulted to getting a well made wig. We wanted to keep the look of long flowing hair and so to achieve this agreed on a wig that we thought would suit. Below is the wig that we have chosen as it looks in good condition and is the style we want.

Update for inside cover
For my inside cover i was going to have a picture of the band. However i decided that to make all my digipack match better. To do this  i decided to swap it for a paint splat and the reason i thought this went better was because on the front cover. For the front cover i have used paint for the circle and so to connect that i thoiught that by having another source of paint inside would be much more effective.

For my draft advert i went with the same colours scheme as my digipack so that they all matched up together.  Also i think the use of red black and white stand out and goes well together. i have put on at the bottom an NME rating as the people who will like my CD will more than likely read the NME magazine. The date i chose was so that it was nearer to Christmas in that more people will buy it as a present or with Christmas money so it thought that month would be the best for it to come out.  I used the same design of the circle on the front of my digipack for the advert so it is easy for people to recognise. i put on our music video song to make the track stand out and also that the band are celebrating their five years together. this will help to connect to fans of the band as they will want to celebrate with them, and by doing this they can get the bands new album.

 I have decided that i nlike the look of paint and mess for my digipack as i think it goes well with the type of audeince that i am trying to attract. It has  grunge look to it as the paint is all messy but also has a purpose and goes with the reast if the album. The style of writing for the words ' Circles' and 'what goes around comes around' goes very well with the look i am going for. I also wanted to add a bit of red to the album so that it doesnt look too boring and parts of it stand out to the audeince.

I like this website as it realtes to the type of genre of music that my band is and so the use of colours and design match. I like that you can look at any information about the band on the site and how it also links up with comunities to show what type of people they are.

Although this music is like the genre we have chose, i think that their site is quite dull and boring and so now i can see that i would want more of a busier band page and for them to have more fun on their digipacks.

I like this as i think it shows that there is definatly a female singer because of the use of purple on the band page but also the disign makes the look more of a seriouse band.

This band relates massivly to our band as they have a lead female singer but are also a grungy soft rock band. I like the style of their site and the colours and image that are used on it.

Magazine advert ideas.

For my edvert i am thinking of having a main image of the band as a back ground and then the information about them and their CD ob it to advertise it. Also by having the CD and the picture on the front shows who the band is and what their new CD looks like. I will be folowing the colour scheme of black, white, and grey and maybe a splash of colour to capture the audiences eye. I will have the name of the band on the top in big letters that stand out so people can see who the advertisment is about. I will have quotes about the new album from mamazines such as Kerrang. The date of the CD's release will be in big letters as well as the albums name. There will also be information about where to get the album from for example, Itunes, HMV, Amazon and other music stores.
The image on the background of the advert will be the image from inside the digipack so that they relate together. Also by using the same sort of colours also shows how they relate to eachother. I will be using the same fonts so that  both the advert and the digipack match together.

 

Research ideas for digipack front cover.



Front cover

For my front cover i think that a simple design will work best as it looks effective and then the inside can become more exciting. The reason that i have chosen the circles is because the album will be called circles and i think that the image and text should match. I am not sure on what type of circul i am going to have, or how many i shall have on the cover but i like the idea of the word circle being involved with the image in some way.

I have two image of people that have then been made out of circles as i think that the design looks very unique but i am not sure if it would look good as a front cover, or match the style of music that i have chosen (soft rock).
I have also added some paint pictures as i think it looks effective and although they arent actually circular, they have a circular look to them. I also love th picture of the dandilion and birds as it shows a story of being free and that would relate well to our band and their music video.

Behind the CD (middle)

For the behind of where my CD will be i want to create a sort of illusion. If i was to use lots of circles for behind the CD then i would have to think about other things that i may put on the front cover as i dont want it to be too all the same. I like the idea of there being an illusion of circles behind the CD as the CD will be circular too and i think that this could be very effective.

Thank you note (inside fold)

On the inside fold i shall have a thank you note from the band to their audeince to basically say thankyou for supporting them and buying their music. The note will be short and too the point as the type of people that will be listening to our music will not want to be reading lots. This is because many indie or rock bands dont tent to put big thank you notes in their CD's whereas pop do, but the type of music my band is, is a soft rock band.

Inside cover

For my inside cover i would like a photo of the band members to try and show off their personalities so that the audeince can relate to them. I will either do it like the picture below and have eahc individual members photo, or as a band photo. My band has 2 males and 1 female so it will be a bit different to the images below. Depening on how i design the rest of the digipack depends on if i chose for the image to be balck and white or in colour. I am still deciding on if i should do a band perfomance shot or an actual posed picture for the inside. i only want one picture of the band as i think more than that then the digipack could look cheap. The audience want to see a disign that relates to the band, not the band members themselves all over it. But to have one image will make the digipack have more veriety within it.

Back cover

For my back cover i am going to put what songs will be on the CD in a list. the back ground will be a plain colour of either balck, grey or white, and maybe a faint circle in the background to go with the theme. The top song of the CD which will also be our music video will be in a bigger font so that it stands out to the audience as a hit single. 

The picture below is an example of how many songs i may out on the back and the type of colours that i will use.

Outside

For the outside i am going to put either a quote from the lead singer or a quote from their main new song 'Save me'. The back ground to that will also be plain to go with the rest of the digipack but i may add some colour to this page to make the digipack not look too dull as i will be using darker colours for the rest of it.
